I am slightly freaking out right now because this is just about the coolest thing I have seen in a VERY long time. You can, in fact, make a beehive using mason jars as the hives, and the bees will produce honey right in your jars! Here&#8217;s what you need:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Supplies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 pieces of 2\u2033 x 12\u2033 x 6\u2032 wood<\/li>\n<li>2 pieces of 1\u2033 x 1\u2033 x 6\u2032 wood<\/li>\n<li>1 piece of thick plywood, cut to 16\u2033 X 20\u2033<\/li>\n<li>1 bottom beehive kit (you can find a DIY for this as well, or buy your own from a beekeeping supplier)<\/li>\n<li>12 big mouth quart sized mason\u00a0jars<\/li>\n<li>1 box of wood screws, size 1\u2033<\/li>\n<li>wood stain or paint of choice<\/li>\n<li>Bees<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Cut two pieces out of your 1 of your\u00a02\u2033 x 12\u2033 x 6\u2032 pieces to 22&#8243;<\/li>\n<li>Cut two pieces out of the other 2&#8242; X 12&#8242; X 6&#8242; to 18&#8243;<\/li>\n<li>Drill 12 holes in your plywood piece for the mason jars, by tracing the mouths of the mason jars. This will work best with a hole saw. Troubleshoot as you go, making sure your jars will fit snugly inside. If you want to make them a bit wide, you can glue the lids to the plywood around the holes to screw the jars neatly in place.<\/li>\n<li>With your wood screws, screw your two 22&#8243; and two 18&#8243; pieces to the plywood to make a box.<\/li>\n<li>Place the box over the bottom beehive kit, and let your bees get to work!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>You can put some starter combs in your mason jars and the bees will fill them with honey.
